Halo: Premium Selection Review

Halo were around when i first started vaping well over some years now & back then the Halo brand was synonymous for premium quality with some of the best reviews i took notice of & for a while i would use their products with one of my favorites in the review below.

The blends being used wern't purchased direct from Halo, they were purchased by an authorized vendor from within the EU.

Please note: When making a review of vendor products, you usually get an idea after testing a few liquids the quality & dynamic of their production processes. Because of this i choose 5 liquids to review. If a vendor has more than 1 line of e-liquid (such as standard & premium) i will review 5 from each. Any e-liquids that say IN TESTING or AWAITING REVIEW/DELIVERY next to the title will be updated in due time. I like to take my time with a product which is usually a week but sometimes it could be more & sometimes less. These reviews are my own opinions & the score i give each is my own preference score. A rating of 7 for me might be a 10 for you. 10 for me is the perfect vape in flavour complexity, vapour production & throat hit on any & every device i try it on.

TRIBECA REVIEW: 12mg

Testing Period: 5 days
Received: This product was purchased by me
Equipment: Vapor shark DNA 30, Squape Reloaded, Kanthal A1 (28g) 8 Wraps - 1.2ohms @ 16.8 Watts, Japanese Organic Cotton

Tribeca was one of my favorite blends when i first started vaping years back, but slowly more varieties & vendors came on the scene much closer to home & i found new favourites. When i decided to do "another" Halo review amongst the hundreds already out there, i was actually quite excited & looking forward to tasting that Tribeca goodness all over again. In essence the Tribeca is a RY4 mixture which is basically a tobacco, vanilla & caramel blend. It definitely bought back memories just from the scrumptious aroma once i opened the bottle! On inhale there's a distinct lightly sweet, golden nuttiness that envelops the whole mouth & then as you slowly begin to exhale, smooth undertones of a creamy caramel becomes evident - very consistent, i don't taste vanilla but the creaminess i got from the undertone of the caramel could be a contributing factor. Throat hit just splendid & very satisfying, vapour production very good with a lovely carrying aroma & the flavour is just quality. I did notice slight differences from what i remember & i think all "veteran" vapers will agree that once you taste a blend you really like - you never forget it!... Not bad differences, maybe a flavouring change but i'm not certain. Would i purchase the Tribeca again? For old times sake i probably would. Could this blend be an all day vape? Yes, definitely!. On a score from 1 to 10 the Tribeca gets an 8

FREEDOM JUICE REVIEW: 12mg

Testing Period: 1 Week
Received: This product was purchased by me
Equipment: Joyetech eVic Supreme, Russian 91%, Kanthal A1 (28g) 7 Wraps - 1.2ohms @ 15.5 Watts, Japanese Organic Cotton

This is my first time trying the Freedom Juice blend & i've read mixed reviews on the forums. From what i've read online this blend is said to be quite a mild tobacco blend with a slight sweetness - which to me doesn't sound bad at all! On opening the bottle there's a very mild & subtle aroma, kind of "earthy" i'd say which with most tobacco blends is expected & this does play with your mind a little because you tend to expect in flavour what you smell - right? but it's certainly not what you get when you take that first inhale. I noticed that "fresh" authentic tobacco taste (fresh tobacco tends to be slightly nutty) but only just a touch which i find extremely tasty. I did get the sweetness from this blend but you won't notice it compared to other variations available. I could compare this blend to a few others but it's not right to compare vendors in a review - but i will say the flavour profile isn't hard to find. Throat hit was a bit too mild for me but i think would suit a vaper new to the game, vapour production was great and the aroma left in the clouds was pleasant. Would i purchase this blend again? No it's not for me but i'm sure plenty will love this blend. Could it be an all day vape? Not for me because i find it a little too mild, but again - i'm sure plenty will swear by it. On a scale of 1 to 10 the Freedom Juice blend gets a quality 6.

TURKISH TOBACCO: 12mg

Testing Period: 1 day
Received: This product was purchased by me
Equipment: Vapor shark DNA 30, Orion RDA, Kanthal A1 (28g) 7 Wraps - 1.1ohms @ 17 Watts, Japanese Organic Cotton

Another first for me from Halo & i do like Turkish Tobacco blends. When i think of Turkish blends i expect it to be highly aromatic - almost kind of like an arabic/oriental, spicy, fragrant tobacco which is quite hard to explain unless you've had the pleasure of trying first hand. On opening the bottle the aroma was very mild & weak with a slight sweetness. I didn't get the aroma i was expecting when i compare to other Turkish blends available & unfortunately for a Turkish blend i feel like the profile's all wrong! On inhale the taste i got from this was inline with a slightly aromatic, mild "off the shelf" bag of pipe tobacco with slightly noticable tones of sweetness. Another negative for me was the dryness! it really did make my throat very dry & i noticed i was drinking a cuppa much more than usual which some might put down to the PG - but for me i put it down to being a very dry blend. Throat hit was too mild for me, vapour production was good. Would i purchase the Turkish again? No thanks - i've had & know there's much better variations available. Could this be an all day vape? No, it's just too dry a vape for me. As a comparison to other Turkish blends i've had - on a scale of 1 to 10 the Turkish gets a 2 & i'm just being polite!

TWISTED JAVA: 12mg

Testing Period: 1 Week
Received: This product was purchased by me
Equipment: Joyetech eVic Supreme, Smok RSST, Kanthal A1 (30g) 7 Wraps - 1.6ohms @ 12.8 Watts, Stainless Steel Mesh #400

If you've read some of my previous reviews, you'll see that i'm not a fan of mint although i'm not biased towards it & if a blend is good then i'll say it. Twisted Java is a Cappuccino, Caramel/Mint blend & i've seen plenty of top notch reviews floating around so this was another "can't wait to try" flavour i was looking forward to becuase i do like coffee type blends. When i opened the bottle the aroma came through as delicious & i could tell immediately what the flavour profile was even if i didn't know before hand. On inhale i could taste a slightly sweet, cooling creamy coffee (& it was creamy). The mint isn't overpowering & even for me i think it compliments the other flavours perfectly. The caramel becomes noticable during exhale & even more noticable in the fragrance of the vapour! a VERY nice beverage/gourmet type blend with a complexity that nails the flavour profile on the head with the flavours that are being replicated. Throat hit was perfect for me & consistent, vapour production was just as good as the others & to sum the flavour up: an extremely good cappuccino gourmet blend!. Would i purchase this blend again: Yes i would, it's one of those blends that need to be in the "stash". could this be an all day vape? No, i couldn't vape this all day & use blends like this as a "go to" night time treat. On a scale of 1 to 10 the Twisted Java gets a well deserved 9 - peaking a 10!

CAFE MOCHA: 12mg

Testing Period: 4 Days
Received: This product was purchased by me
Equipment: Joyetech eVic Supreme, Smok RSST, Kanthal A1 (30g) 7 Wraps - 1.6ohms @ 13.2 Watts, Stainless Steel Mesh #400

Halo seem to have their coffee type blends in check & the Mocha is another blend that verifies that. I couldn't find much in terms of online reviews in the forums but those i did find were mixed - either way, as i said before i do like coffee type blends & it was another blend i couldn't wait to get my lungs around. When i opened the bottle what i got was straight aromatic hazelnut & cappuccino - more or less the same aroma released from a good Starbucks blend & so far all signs were looking good. On inhale that's exactly what i got! a slightly sweet, light cappuccino flavour with the hazelnut peaking its earthy - nutty head on the top end! the complexity comes in when i started tasting undertones of, what tasted to me like roasted pecan with caramel & slight hints of cocoa - this was consistent the 4 days i was testing this blend & i really did like the flavour profile. Throat hit was perfect for me & vapour production was good. Would you purchase this blend again? No i wouldn't because if i was to purchase a coffee type blend from halo, it would be the Twisted Java & the fact i don't like mint is saying something - but i'm sure many will & already do. Could this be an all day vape: No & i say this because it made my throat extremley dry the 4 days i was using it - & i mean DRY! but again i'm sure many already do use this as an all day option. On a scale of 1 to 10 the Cafe Mocha gets a respectable 6.

OVERALL OPINIONS:
When it comes to quality, Halo are definitely up there & have been around long enough. Prices are good for what you get but i've noticed when purchasing from vendors outside of Halo they like to mark the products up quite a bit & make a little profit in the process, for example (without naming vendors) i've seen 30ml bottles retailing for over €30 which with todays exchange rate is equal to $37+ which i think is disgusting & something Halo should be keeping control of - especially when they sell 30ml for $19.99. All in all, apart from the Turkish blend - a very enjoyable testing period.
